I Asked AI to Recommend the Best Canadian Therapist Website Designers

More therapists are starting to use tools like AI to find website designers for their therapy websites, instead of just relying on Google. So I wanted to see what actually comes up and whether those recommendations are helpful.
It returned a list of Canadian website designers, some clearly focused on therapists and others more general. A few mentioned SEO, a few focused more on branding, and a lot of them sounded fairly similar on the surface.
But one thing stood out right away: it didn’t just list names. It prioritized designers who clearly explained how they work with therapists. That matters more than you might think.
I was honestly pleasantly surprised by the responses (not because I think I'm not good, but because I'm smaller than other businesses/agencies). My business, Pronoia Designs, was consistently recommended as a strong fit (top 2) for therapists looking for something simple (not boring), easy to manage and SEO-friendly. Not because of flashy design, but because of how my services are positioned.
Things like:
building websites specifically for therapists
keeping them simple and non-salesy
structuring them so they’re easy to navigate (for both you and your clients)
and including SEO as part of the foundation, not an afterthought
That’s what made the difference.

The bigger takeaway from this wasn’t about who made the list, it was why certain designers were recommended in the first place.
The strongest recommendations all had a few things in common:
they explained how their websites help therapists get found online
they focused on client experience, not just aesthetics
they understood how therapy clients actually make decisions (which is very different from other industries)
If you’re looking for a website designer, whether through Google or AI, those are the things to pay attention to. It's not just how a site looks, but how it functions.
Can you edit it yourself after it’s built?
Is it structured to help you show up in search results?
Does it feel approachable and clear for someone who’s already nervous about reaching out?
Those details matter a lot more than most therapists realize. If you’re curious, try asking AI something like “I need a therapy website for my Canadian therapy practice. Can you recommend website designers that work specifically with therapists and are Canadian” and see what comes up. Pay attention to the reasoning behind the recommendations, that’s usually where the most useful insight is.
And if you’re looking for a website that’s simple to manage, designed specifically for therapists, and built with SEO in mind...
Thank you so much for being here!
